About Mark Picard and Anita Mueller

A little about us

Mark Picard, and I both began photographing wildlife at an early age, but it was not until much later in life that we met while photographing at a local wildlife refuge in Western Massachusetts. It did not take either of us long to realize that we both shared a passion for photographing the natural world. That was in 2007!  Mark had already fallen in love with Moose, was an internationally published wildlife photographer and leading outdoor photography workshops seasonally in Maine. Me, Anita, a free-lance interior designer, had dreams of someday photographing birds, not just in between client appointments, but as often as I wanted.  Since that chance meeting, we moved to Maine full time partnering both in business and in life. With humble gallery beginnings on the first floor of a renovated two-story tenement, Moose Prints Gallery & Gifts was launched in 2010. Quickly outgrowing the original gallery space, Moose Prints Gallery now occupies a larger storefront on Penobscot Avenue in downtown Millinocket, Maine where you are always welcome to visit us.  The gallery offers a large selection of our imagery along with nature gifts and local craft. The workroom is also larger, accommodating the state-of-the-art printers we use to reproduce images of both our work as well as that of our Print Service clients.  The best part of our chance encounter at the wildlife refuge back in 2007, other than meeting each other, is that our journey has led us to now live at the edge of what we refer to as a really big back yard, Maine’s expansive North Woods - just a few miles from Katahdin, Maine’s highest peak. It is an area with abundant wildlife, spectacular landscapes, and unlimited opportunities to photograph nature, for not only us, but also for our workshop participants. It is a region of Maine that inspires us as nature photographers every day!
